Darkness Descends
Darkness can envelope
Anyone anytime
It comes quick with all
sorts of activities
In our life.
It can make you feel lifeless
Of not feeling alive
You have to fight to come back from it, with every breath in your body.
Rise above it, don’t get lost in the black abyss.
Demons waiting to Change our feelings.
We have to fight,
To survive, live and Keep our soul burning bright.

Discovered Love
Words and paper had survived,
Of the pen I cannot say
But my reading of these sheets of wood Had swept all doubt away.
One day he would speak of a walk they’d take,
With a few friends by their side,
But for now, he wrote of the pulling shore,
And the anger of the tide.
A life he’d offer, a time they’d share,
And a touch to allay all fears.
Her sacrifice would be repaid,
In all his remaining years.
It was a love born out of the everyday
And spoken in the mundane
Not a love to set fire to the ages,
But a great love all the same.

Hills and darkness descend.
Hills and darkness descend, it’s true
And the darkest hour is just before the dawn.
I find it easier to walk downhill than up
Provided it’s not too steep a descent – In which case,
I’m slightly wary of my ankles
Then again, I bought hiking boots
To protect those joints.
So let the hills descend,
I have had my uphill climb.
Night terrors have never affected me
My brother did sleep walk
And was rudely awakened by our Dad
Shouting at him in the corner of our parents room
As he did a wee “Gedoudadere”.
I doubt any parenting guru would approve.
Was the tomb where Jesus lay and rose
Near the foot of the hill of Calvary?
Darkness did descend Then He arose triumphant.
A candle, a light, a beacon,
A torch, a lighthouse for the fog and the dark Hills and darkness descend
“Your word is a light for my path”
A beacon of hope.
The Captain of Stena Vision said on TV
That when he sees Tuskar Rock lighthouse
As he sails in from Cherbourg
“No matter how bad the night has been,
You’re nearly there now.”

Restless Night
As the night draws in
And I lay in my bed,
A myriad of thoughts
Going around in my head
Sleep that evades,
And a peace that won’t come
With lists of tomorrow
And things yet to be done.
The tick of the clock
As I turn side to side
With a restless invasion
That I cannot avoid.
Then out of nowhere
A peace has descended,
And swirling thoughts T
hat have momentarily ended.
My eyelids now closed.
Tension starts to abate,
And all of those thoughts
Will just have to wait.
